Summer Reading Programs at Edon Library

The Edon Branch Library will be holding many exciting Summer Reading events with a theme of “A Universe of Stories”. Programs will run from June 1 through July 27.

Summer Reading special activities will officially kick off on Saturday, June 1 with the ODNR presenting an educational program on Water Safety and Fishing Basics at 10:00 am. The exciting festivities will begin on Wednesday, June 5 with the Summer Reading Opening Program at 1:00 pm. Take part in fun games and activities! Meet exotic zoo animals at 2:00 pm. There will be a real exotic zoo right in the library! On Wednesday, June 12 magician, puppeteer, and entertainer, Kevin Kammeraad will perform at 1:00 pm. This is a great family program that all ages will enjoy. The Challenger Learning Center will be at the library at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19, and will bring a real Star Lab Mobile Planetarium! Learn about Native American Mythology, and view the night sky in the Star Lab, just as if you were outside in an open field, with no city lights distracting the view! On Wednesday, June 26 draw along with Jeff Nicholas, original illustrator humorist and story teller. This program will follow with prize drawings, ice cream, and a free book for each child who attends.   

The library will host several weekly happenings throughout the summer. Stop in for Arts & Crafts all day, during open hours, on Tuesdays in June. On Saturdays, the library will hold Family Story Time at 10:00 am. Every Friday, the library will show a movie at 1:00 pm. The movie list is as follows: June 07, Space Buddies (rated G), June 14, Fly Me to the Moon (rated G), June 21: Monsters vs. Aliens (rated PG), June 28, The Jetsons (rated G) July 6, The Cat from Outer Space (rated G), July 13, Space Camp (rated PG), July 20, Mars Needs Moms (rated PG), July 27, Space Jam (rated PG)
