The Edon Branch Library will be starting its’ schedule of “Weekly Wednesday Programs” for 2019 on Wednesday, January 9th. The programs that will take place every week are:
“Mommy and Me Read & Playtime,” where moms and babies spend quality time together, and babies are introduced to concepts such as sharing and playing with others. There will also be group play, which focuses on emergent reading skills, colors, shapes, counting and early motor movements. This program is for moms and children ages newborn to 2 years old, starts at 1:00 pm, and normally lasts an hour.
“Bright Minds Story Time,” is a group that uses early literacy tools such as letter repetition, rhyming, and picture/story discussion to build skills needed to encourage beginner readers. “Bright Minds” also enhances communication skills and teaches children how to work together. This program is for ages to 2 to 5 years old, starts at 1:00 pm, and lasts up to half an hour.
“Discovery Time,” explores educational concepts through early STEM tactile play. Children will be introduced to these concepts through sensory bins, educational games, magnetism the senses, etc. This program starts right after “Bright Minds Story Time, around 1:30 pm and is for ages 2 to 5 years old.
“Home School Group,” meets to explore different, interesting, topics each week. This is a non-curriculum based program that starts at 1:00 pm and ends at 2:00 pm. Those interested in joining the group should be homeschool students who are able to read and interact independently. Please call the library with any questions.
