The West Unity Branch Library would like to invite area children to come and read to a visiting therapy dog. âTail Wagginâ Tutorsâ will be held at the library on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month, with meetings starting at 4pm during the school year. Children will be able to read in one-on-one to Registered Therapy dog, Bean, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Poodle mix. April meetings will be held on April 11th & April 25th.
According to the Therapy Dog International website, âThe main objective of this program is to provide a relaxed and âdog-friendlyâ atmosphere, which allows students to practice the skill of reading.â This program creates excitement about reading and is a great opportunity for children to build confidence and improve their reading skills. âTail Wagginâ Tutorsâ enables children to read aloud in an environment where they do not feel self-conscious and at the same time, can enjoy the company of the therapy dogs. The participating dogs have their certificates from Therapy Dog International and are trained to be calm and gentle.
The West Unity Branch Library is located at 109 South High Street. For more information on âTail Wagginâ Tutorsâ, please contact 833-633-7323.
